From 30. June to 4. July 2008, the Council of Europe has successfully organized the  Third Summer University for Democracy in Strasbourg. More than 600 participants from 16 countries, from the organizations of „The Schools of Political Studies“ network have come together to discuss governance, power and democracy and its many aspects.

Academy for Political Development organized a seminar entitled  „Media and civil society in political processes” from 18 till 21 May in Postira on the island of Brac. While the previous seminar focused on lectures and discussions, this time the emphasis was on workshops and trainings with experienced practitioners.

First seminar of this year’s programme of the Academy for Political Development, entitled „The Citizen, Society and Politics in a Modern Democracy“, took place in Opatija from 17 to 19 March 2006. Topics of the seminar included contemporary politics, political ideologies through history, political parties and their activities, and the role of the civil society in liberal-democratic political system.
