First annual seminar of Academy for Political Development in 2010. took place in Crikvenica from 7-9. March 2010. Thirty selected participants had the opportunity to learn and discuss topics such as traditional political ideologies, controversies of democracy, civil society in the process of democratic transition and consolidation, as well as process of Croatian accession to the EU, its final steps and main challenges ahead. The interactive workshop on political parties and their programmes enabled participants to go through the simulation of election process, including formulating party programmes, presenting it, and negotiating and forming coalitions.

Eminent experts in the programme included: dr. Enes Kulenović and dr. Tonči Kursar from Faculty of Political Science, Srđan Dvornik, publicist, Igor Bajok from GONG-a Rijeka, dr. Ivana Radačić, associate of Centre for Peace Studies, Centre for Women Studies and B.a.B.e., Tomislav Tomašević from Green Action, dr. Vesna Pusić, Head of National Committee for Monitoring Accession Negotiations, , Hrvoje Marušić, Advisor to the Head of Primorsko-goranska County on the EU and Member of Opatija City Council. Moderators of workshop were Mislav Togonal (Croatian Radiotelevision) and Tedi Chiavalon (Istrian Democratic Assembly), both alumni of Academy's programme.
